Everyday we used gmail attachments for exchanging documents, photos etc, but gmail only provides two options for attachments view or download.View option is used to check or read the supported attachments online and if you want to download on your hard-drive than you can used the download option.
So if in future you need the past attachments than you have to go throw the email list and find that particular email and then view or used.
